Despite my efforts to keep my Model Aircraft Aerodynamics as free as possible from mathematics and technical jargon, the publishers, Argus Books, felt it was too difficult for ordinary model flyers to understand and asked me to prepare a simplified and much shorter version, which would surely be more popular. Model Flight was the result in 1988. It was moderately successful. The cover picture was a mistake by the publisher. Many readers thought it was a picture of myself. I insisted on a change for the new edition which was published some time later. Sales, however, have never come near to equal the figures for Model Aircraft Aerodynamics. Perhaps the average model flyer is brighter than publishers think.
